Mission of The Philadelphia Design Center
The Philadelphia Design Center works to advance and support the efforts of Philadelphia’s design talent at all levels of experience. The Design Center is dedicated to providing advanced software technology and textile facilities to assist in the creation process for designers.
Design Center Residencies
The Philadelphia Design Center is offering five 12-month residencies in its new facility located in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia. All residencies will be from October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017. The Philadelphia Design Center is a collaborative co-working environment so there are no solitary studios, but areas may be booked in advance for specific workloads. All Resident Designers will be awarded the Max Level of membership which includes a free student level membership to be given to an apprentice or intern of the Resident’s choosing.
Goal of Residencies
The goals of creating The Philadelphia Design Center residencies are:
To support emerging and professional theatrical design talent already in the Greater Philadelphia area
To act as a beacon for talented designers from across the country to join the Greater Philadelphia design community
To foster creative collaboration across design fields and designers themselves by providing a unifying space for their process
To create a source of professional development for designers early on in their careers
